Tyrion Lannister in "Game of Thrones" Season 7, could be the dark horse to win the Iron Throne all along, according to popular theories. Tyrion's ally, Daenerys could also go turn out to be a villain in the final two seasons of the series.

Tyrion, being a true heir to the throne is a popular theory among fans. According to them, Tyrion could turn out to be the real son of Mad King Aerys Targaryen afterall. This theory finds its footing in the fact that Tyrion and his sketchy relationship with his supposed father, Tywin, Uproxx reported.

Tywin hated Tyrion until his death and claimed that this is because his wife Joanna died while giving birth to him. However, it could also be because he was never Tyrion's real father anyway. It was no secret that Aerys once fancied Joanna and the thought that the Mad King would have forced himself or seduced Tyrion's mother is not farfetched. After all, this is "Game of Thrones," where family lineage is oftentimes blurry.

If the theory turns out to be true, Tyrion would be the bastard son of Aerys. Technically, Daenery's will still have a stronger claim to inheritance provided, that she will not turn out to be a mad ruler like her father.

Another popular theory is that Daenerys could be going down a villainous path in the final stretch of the "Game of Thrones," Tech Insider reported. In the books, Daenerys is constantly plagued by the thought that she will inherit her father's madness.

In "A Storm of Swords," Ser Barristan told Daenerys that one of the Targaryen children could inherit their father's insanity.

"Every child knows that the Targaryens have always danced too close to madness. Your father was not the first. King Jaehaerys once told me that madness and greatness are two sides of the same coin. Every time a new Targaryen is born, he said, the gods toss the coin in the air and the world holds its breath to see how it will land."
