The still unannounced Sony Xperia device was unceremoniously revealed in a recent set of leaked renders. The new leak referred to a previously leaked Sony device with model number F8331. Since Sony's focus this year is aimed towards the Xperia X series, many tech analysts speculate that the leaked device might carry the same branding.
The new set of leaks were shared by Evan Blass, the notable leaker known for his Twitter handle @OnLeaks. Blass is known for sharing specs and renders of prominent smartphones and other tech devices prior to their original launch.
Based on the new leaked renders, the rumored device will be dubbed as the Xperia XR, something that would put the device in the Xperia X family of devices, according to Android Headlines. This means that it be a follow up to a wide range of devices including the previously released Xperia X, Xperia XA, Xperia XA Ultra, and the Xperia X Performance models.
Just like its predecessors, the Xperia XR will sport the same form factor, build, and aesthetics. The camera sensors are still in their usual place, with the USB Type-C port located on the bottom of the device.
The leak only provided tech enthusiast with what the phone will look like once it hits the market. No one really knows for sure what the specs of the Xperia XR are. Despite this lack of information, it did not deter tech analysts from speculation what could lay behind the XR's hood.
If the F8331 happens to be the same phone as the Xperia XR, the device will have a 5.1-inch or 5.3-inch Full HD display. Powering the Xperia XR will be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 with 3GB of memory and an Adreno 530 graphics processing unit. The earlier leak also hinted that the Xperia XR will measure 146.4 x 71.9 x 8.1 mm, according to GSM Arena.
Regarding the release date of the Sony Xperia XR, not much is known. However, there are speculations claiming that Sony will unveil the device at the upcoming 2016 IFA conference in Berlin which will kick off on Sept. 4
