Following the successful launch of the Radeon RX 480 video card, tech company AMD is said have been working on a more affordable model which is expected to be released this summer. Dubbed as the RX 470 and the RX 460, these two upcoming video cards are expected to be released in the sub-$200 and $100 price point market, respectively.

AMD has yet to release the official specs sheets of the two video cards. However, the company did provide some details of what to expect with the RX 470 and the RX 460.

The RX 470, unlike the RX 480, may not be powerful enough to handle virtual reality contents. However, AMD hinted that it should be close enough. The RX 470 is expected to have 4.9 teraflops of computing power, compared to the 5.8 teraflops recorded by the RX 480. The RX 470 is available in either 8GB or 4GB of GDDR5 memory on an impressive 256-bit memory interface. This should allow the card to play new titles at 1080p resolution with a steady 60 frames per second refresh rate.

On the other hand, the RX 460 is expected to be billed as a budget conscious alternative for the Radeon R9 Nano which was released in 2015. Considered as the least powerful of the three Radeon RX cards, the RX 460has 2.2 teraflops of computing power. The entry-level model of the card will have 2GB of GDDR5 memory on a 128-bit interface. A 4GB model is also available.

According to Engadget, the RX 460 has a smaller and less power hungry setup using just 75 watts of power. The video is primarily aimed for eSports titles like "League of Legends," "DOTA 2," "Overwatch," and "Rocket League." The card is also available in small form factor which can be integrated into laptops.

According to Forbes, the RX 470 is expected to have a price tag of $179 for the 8GB model, while the 4GB model will cost $149. The RX 460 2GB model is expected to cost $99, while the 4GB model will cost $119.
