James Gunn recently teased the appearance of Star-Lord's father in "Guardians of the Galaxy 2." The film director shared a photo of Kurt Russell's human form as Ego the Living Planet.

The photo does not exactly show Russell's face but Gunn says it is close enough to his character in the movie. The director shared an Instagram photo of one of the movie merchandise from Funko Pop, which he says is Star-Lord's father in human form.

The toy version of Ego the Living Planet shows a bearded man with slick-back hair. He appears super heroic in his costume, which consists of a cape and a pair of wristbands. What seems to be a gun holster is also strap to his chest.

Gunn says this is how Ego the Living Planet looks like when he is not in his celestial form. Of course, fans would have to take the director's word about Russell's appearance, since the trailer for "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" did not reveal his face.

Perhaps, those who saw a preview for the sequel at the 2016 San Diego Comic-Con can attest to Gunn's statement. According to Cinemablend, there is a scene in "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" that shows Russell take a human form during a conversation with some of the Guardians.

Regardless, this toy from Funko Pop is confirmation enough that the movie takes after Ego's comicbook storyline. In the Marvel comics, Ego the Living Planet takes on a human form in order to interact with the Guardians, especially with his son Peter Quill aka Star-Lord (Chris Pratt).

Meanwhile, Russell previously teased Ego the Living Planet's demise in "Guardians of the Galaxy 2." He told Collider that Star-Lord has a dilemma when it comes to his father. A situation leads to the Guardian having to make the very difficult decision whether to save Ego the Living Planet or not.
