Lindsay Lohan wants to develop a follow-up story to the hit 2004 comedy film, "Mean Girls."

During a live Facebook interview with CNN in Dubai, the actress revealed that she still has not given up on the idea of doing a Mean Girls sequel. The movie, which she co-starred with Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried and Lacey Chabert, has resonated with the younger audiences since its release for its memorable quotes and relatable characters. Lohan played the fish out of water character, Cady Heron, who after moving from Africa got involved into the messy world of high school drama.

"I have been trying so hard to do a 'Mean Girls 2.' It is not in my hands," Lohan said.

"I know that [writer] Tina Fey and [producer] Lorne Michaels and all of Paramount are very busy... I will keep forcing it and pushing it on them until we do it."

Further, Lohan revealed that she's already written a treatment for "Mean Girls 2," adding that she would love Jimmy Fallon and Jamie Lee Curtis to be part of the sequel. Curtis played Lohan's mother on the film, Freaky Friday.

It's unclear if Lohan will also serve as producer or writer for the film if the project gets greenlit by the studio. As for the plot, Lohan did not reveal any details during the interview.

In 2011, the first "Mean Girls 2" was already produced and aired as a TV movie on ABC Family. However, the standalone sequel has not been a huge smash compared to the original. Tim Meadows was the only original cast member who got on board in the sequel, where he reprised his role as Principal Duvall.

The original "Mean Girls" also starred Lizzy Caplan, Jonathan Bennett, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Ana Gasteyer, Daniel Franzese, and Neil Flynn. It grossed more than $86 million in the box office on an estimated $17 million budget.
