"Preacher" executive producer Seth Rogen took it to social media to share what is in store for the series in Season 2.

Rogen posted a photo of the first script titled "On the Road." He teased that he has a lot of reasons to be excited for the production of the next season.

Based on the popular comic book franchise of the same name, "Preacher" follows Jesse Custer, a preacher who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that causes him to develop his highly unusual power.

While the comic book version of the series had a fast-paced storytelling, its television counterpart has been a slow burn. Deviating from the comics, the maiden season of "Preacher" tv series was more of a prequel to the comic books.

In an interview, co-creator Garth Enis said that they deliberately wanted to deviate from the comic books in Season 1. He said that the "breathless pace" of the source material will not translate very on the screen.

"We've talked about this before, I mean I confirmed for them a suspicion that they'd arrived at anyway that they were going to have to change it. The breathless pace of the book just wouldn't translate that way to the screen. They were going to have to calm it down a little bit, and I said just keep the spirit," he said.

Fans who weren't so happy with the first season will have something to cheer about in Season 2 however, because it will begin right where the original comic book started, Comic Book reported. This is evidenced by the season 1 finale that lined up a story that served as a prelude to the way the comic book version begins.

To describe the next season, showrunner Sam Catlin said, "In the first season we really wanted to establish Jesse's relationship to God and lack thereof. He is disillusioned and losing his congregation from the beginning. We needed to put Jesse's journey into context, and his mission for next season," Deadline reported.

This development will likely return in a meatier storyline in season 2 where Jesse may face bigger and worse villains. Case in point: Herr Star, the mystery man in all white at the nuff film festival who appeared in Season 1 episode 3. Starr is a member of a sinister organization called The Grail who will try to use Jesse for their nefarious ends.
