It has been announced that the J.K Rowling penned screenplay "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" film franchise has been expanded from the initially reported three to five. The surprise announcement was made by the world famous author herself, saying to fans that she already finished the plot of the five films, instead of the planned trilogy.

In a report from The Hollywood Reporter, the announcement of Rowling was made as the world anticipates for a sneak peek of footage from the upcoming "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" during a global event.

The said event was hosted by several theaters around the United States and in London. It featured a new footage from the film and a live Q&A session with stars Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Colin Farrell and Jon Voight, as well as director David Yates.

When asked whether he will be on board for all five films, director David Yates confirmed his commitment with producer Warner Brothers. The director of four "Harry Potter" films said that he has committed to Warner Bros.' entire prequel series, which stars Eddie Redmayne as magizoologist Newt Scamander.

"I love making films, and I've got a great team, all of whom are like family," Yates told The Hollywood Reporter at the film's world premiere last Thursday. However, it has been cleared that the commitment is not yet official, "I only look at it movie-to-movie."

The film is based on Rowling's 2001 book of the same title, which she wrote under the pseudonym of the fictitious author Newt Scamander. The book was about the many magical creatures mentioned in the "Harry Potter" lore and purports to be Harry Potter's copy of the textbook of the same name mentioned in "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone".

The film's lead character, Newt Scamander, was born in 1897 and was the author of the book, as well as the Hogwarts standard textbook for its magical creatures-dedicated subject. According to the "About the Author" section of the book, Scamander became a magizoologist because of his great interest in fabulous beasts and the encouragement of his mother who is an enthusiastic Hippogriff breeder.

According to Harry Potter Wikia, a Magizoologist is a person who studies magical creatures, in a field known as magizoology. They may possibly also be referred to as wizarding naturalists, to which a person does not need to have graduated from school to become a Magizoologist.

He had a grandson named Rolf, who married Luna Lovegood, a beloved character who appeared in the last three "Harry Potter" novels, some time after the events of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows". Moreover, in the film version of "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban", Newt Scamander's name appeared on the Marauder's Map. This has been a mystery still to fans and as to why he was at Hogwarts was not addressed, although it may be that a Hogwarts student was named after him.
