Recently, Ubisoft had an earnings call meeting where management was able to discuss "Watch Dogs 2's" preorders and hinted the next possible "Assassin's Creed" title.

Tackling the topic of "Watch Dog 2," CEO Yves Guillemot stated that the preorder sales were lower than expected, reports Gamespot. However, the CEO was confident that the game will "do extremely well" by delivering a "fantastic experience."

Ubisoft's Chief financial officer (CFO) Alan Martinez mentioned that the preorder isn't the main reason for a game's success. One notable thing he mentioned in the call was the studio's efforts to further enhance the gameplay experience by adding new content updates, especially of those addressed by fans. Martinez also stated that fan feedback can be integral in improving the game such as cases like "Rainbow Six Siege" and the release of "The Division's" high-profile 1.4 update, which positively and heavily impacted the game.

"What we are trying to say are preorders are indeed very important, quality is very important, but also the attention that you put on the game over the long term is also very, very key," Martinez explained. He also stressed that Ubisoft acknowledges and applies the feedback of the fan community to come up "with a perfect experience" through numerous polishing and updates. Martinez stated: "We believe that for the good of the brand (...) is what will be the most valuable for the success of that game, and its future expansion, and also for the future of the next game."

In other news, an analyst also brought up the topic of when Ubisoft will be releasing another "Assassin's Creed" title. Guillemot mentioned that the studio is currently "working hard" on the game and "will be launched when ready."

Earlier this year, Kotaku reported that the next "Assassin's Creed" title will break from the mainline series being set in Egypt. The reported title is said to be called "Assassin's Creed: Empire" and is rumored to be released on 2017. And, to mention this again, no other details about it will be released until Ubisoft deems it to be "ready."
