Blizzard Entertainment is set to unveil the long-awaited "Diablo 4," 20 years after the original game was released. The game is expected to be launched on the upcoming BlizzCon.
Fans speculate that something big is in store in the fourth release of the franchise game since it would be its 20th anniversary this year. However, Blizzard still remains tight-lipped about the new ordeal, Trusted Reviews reported.
Ex-Diablo lead David Brevik confirmed earlier that fourth "Diablo" game is indeed in development. Brevik was the lead programmer of the original "Diablo" game and the project lead on the critically-acclaimed "Diablo 2."
"For 20 years, Diablo-like games have evolved & surprised us. I'm proud to be the adviser for the game that pushes this genre to new heights," Brevik wrote on Twitter.
Later, it was clarified that his tweets was about his move to another project in "Path of Exile" which is set to be launched in China soon. The only thing sure for now is that Blizzard is looking for its new Game Director in an unannounced project. Fans speculate that this project has ties with the future of the "Diablo" series, CheatSheet reported.
Elsewhere, "Diablo 4" will reportedly opt to reveal an HD remaster of "Diablo 2" which is also standard for other successful titles such as "The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim."
The date for release is scheduled on either November 4 or November 5 this year. The upcoming release is touted to also mark the arrival of several games. Do note that this is not yet confirmed by the company. In case "Diablo 4" does not come out in the next BlizzCon, the company is expected to focus on previous iterations of the game and propose an expansion.
