Milwaukee Bucks General Manager John Hammond announced on Monday to re-sign the free agent forward Steve Novak. Head coach Jason Kidd will use Novak's shooting accuracy from the outside along with other veteran players.
Novak is a veteran who joined NBA in 2006 when Houston Rockets drafted him. He has played in eight different teams in the NBA: L.A. Clippers, Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs, New York Knicks , Toronto Raptors, Utah Jazz and Oklahoma City Thunder before landed in Milwaukee in February 2016.
According ESPN, terms of the contract were not disclosed in accordance with team policy. Last season, Novak only played three games for Bucks. After he injured a major ligament (MCL) in left knee, he had to miss the remainder of the season.
Coach Kidd pursued veteran with excellent outside shooting ability to strengthen the team's three-point field goals. Prior to re-sign Novak, Bucks already signed Mirza Teletovic and veteran guard Jason "The Jet" Terry in the lineup.
Terry holds the record of the third-most three-point field goals in NBA history with 44.4 percent behind Ray Allen and Reggie Miller. While Novak has 43.1 percent, and Teletovic with 41.2 percent three-point field goals percentage.
Last week, Terry decided to join Bucks because he believed Kidd has the winning attitude to develop the team made of combination between young and veteran players. According to Bucks.com, Terry expressed his confidence to former team mate in Dallas Mavericks.
"Jason Kidd was all for everything that I believe in," Terry said. "And that's winning, that's becoming a positive influence in the locker room on young guys, and he values his veterans and he knows how valuable I am to him and the Milwaukee Bucks organization and to our success this year as a team."
Currently, Milwaukee posses a squad of strong and young players to attack the rim. They have Giannis Antetokounmpo, Rashad Vaughn and Jabari Parker. In 2016 draft, they also selected a 7'1" center Thon Maker in the 10th overall pick .
With Novak joined the roster, Bucks now have three veteran players with very strong three-point field goal percentage. They will team-up with strong and fast young players who will attack the rim relentlessly.
