Sorry "Delena" fans but it seems like there is a slim chance of seeing Elena and Damon reunited for the last time on the upcoming "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8; however, there is no need to be sad as Nina Dobrev is rumored to return as Elena's doppelganger Katherine Pierce.
Although the matter has not been confirmed by the showrunners, one thing is for sure, Dobrev will be making an appearance on "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 alongside some other familiar faces as per EP Julie Plec.
"I would like to see everyone's face that I can possibly see again, whether it be in the finale or in flashbacks or the characters who are still alive finding their way through Mystic Falls one last time," the showrunner told Entertainment Weekly.
Meanwhile, rumor has it that the reported "Delena" reunion for "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 has allegedly rooted a rift between Ian Somerhalder and wife Nikki Reed, iTechPost noted. According to reports, the divorce rumors between the couple started after Dobrev was confirmed to make a comeback for the finale of the American TV series.
Aside from that, Somerhalder reportedly said a "Delena" reunion is not necessary for the finale of "The Vampire Diaries," adding that the ending should revolve around the relationship of Damon and his brother Stefan.
Amid rumors surrounding Dobrev's comeback on "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8, the showrunners have yet to respond whether the actress will return as Elena or Katherine. On the other hand, both Somerhalder and Reed are keeping their silence about divorce rumors amid a possible "Delena" reunion.
