Ed Decter, who stepped down earlier this month as showrunner, recently revealed to TV Line that "Shadowhunters" has plotted major transformations ahead for its characters - Maureen, Jocelyn and Luke in Season 2. Decter said that fans will also meet new characters from the book, adding that the writers will "start building into each of the realms in a different way."
The exit of Decter is expected to set a shift in direction for "Shadowhunters." Reports say that Decter departed the series due to creative differences. But until now, there's still no word if the series has already found a replacement for the old showrunner to take charge of production in Season 2.
In other developments, Deadline has learned that Nick Sagar has been tapped to play Victor Aldertree on "Shadowhunters" Season 2. His character is described as a charming Clave Representative who arrives in New York in the aftermath of Jace's departure with Valentine. He will appear in a recurring basis throughout the season.
Based on Cassandra Clare's "The Mortal Instruments," "Shadowhunters" follows the demon-hunting teens who are part angel and part human. It stars Katherine McNamara, Dominic Sherwood and Alan Van Sprang. Season 2 will premiere sometime in 2017.
