Fans are undoubtedly unhappy after Konami revealed its new "Metal Gear Survive" game. Konami officials immediately went forward to rally support for the new game.

One of these officials is Robert Allan Peer, Game Rant reported. The company's online community manager acknowledged fans' dissatisfaction towards "Metal Gear Survive." He also admitted that fans have their own thoughts about how their favorite games should go.

The Konami social media manager then engaged several Twitter users who tweeted regarding the new video game. He urged everyone to reserve judgment until the game is released.

Brand manager Richard Jones also took advantage of Gamescom to explain "Metal Gear Survive" gameplay to disgruntled players, PC Gamer reported. He told media that the new game takes place in an alternate dimension separate from the world of "Metal Gear V: Phantom Pain." A wormhole had transported several staff members of the Mother Base to an alien landscape. They then have to survive the unknown world through co-operative gameplay.

Describing the game as a spin-off, Jones clarified that stealth will still be part of the new game's mechanics. He said that the game is an opportunity for players to ascertain how to combine both stealth and co-operative multiplayer together.

As for the zombie-like enemies, the brand manager hinted that they are but a teaser of the entire package offered by the game. He also said that players will get access to weapons that are new to the "Metal Gear" universe.

"Metal Gear Survive" is Konami's first entry into the franchise that does not involve its creator, Hideo Kojima. Kojima had parted ways with Konami following disagreements during the production of Phantom Pain. The director's credits were eventually removed from all Phantom Pain materials.

Konami released the first teaser trailer of "Metal Gear Survive" on Wednesday, Aug. 17. The gameplay trailer revealed that players can join a team of four soldiers. Their mission is to survive onslaughts of zombies in online co-op mode. The new game will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in 2017.
