No new details have been revealed by Hideo Kojima for his new game "Death Stranding" since the debut of the trailer during the 2016 Electronic Entertainment Expo. However, it appears that there is a definite date for the game's release to the PlayStation 4.

This was hinted at by the vocalist of the band Low Roar, which provided the song in the trailer. Ryan Karazija said that Kojima himself revealed to him the release date for the game, Gaming Bolt reported.

According to Karazija, he and Kojima met and discussed details of the latter's projects over food and drinks. The vocalist then claimed that the game director showed him images of his collaboration with "The Walking Dead" actor Norman Reedus for the video game. Karazija then said that Kojima revealed a lot of sensitive details over the game; however, the vocalist said that he is not at liberty to divulge that knowledge to the public.

Segment Next speculated that the release date should be at 2018 or 2019. The publication also noted that Kojima could be trying to achieve a shorter production time in his new project.

Kojima is popular for his work on the tactical espionage game series, "Metal Gear," for Konami; however, the game director left the company in 2015. The departure was due to conflicts over the production of the fifth title in the "Metal Gear Solid" (MGS) franchise.

Kojima's name was eventually removed from box art for MGS' fifth series. The game director was also due to collaborate with Guillermo del Toro on a game; however, the game was cancelled after Konami and Kojima parted ways.

GameSpot also noted that Konami retained rights to MGS. The studio is expected to produce new games in the series.

Kojima officially announced his departure from Konami in December 2015. Sony Computer Entertainment's President Andrew House eventually announced that his company and Kojima have forged a partnership to create new games. Journalist Geoff Keighley also indicated on Twitter that Kojima's new game will be coming exclusively to the PlayStation 4.
