Is Superman going dark? It seems so, as actor Henry Cavill posted an image online, presumably of the black suit that he might be wearing in the upcoming "Justice League" film.

Cavill posted the photo on Instagram - a close-up of what looks to be grayish black material with embossed design. One user named arsenal_munchkin says that it's a glimpse of the black and white suit that the superhero will be wearing when he comes back from the grave, speculated to happen in "Justice League."

It can be recalled that "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" ended with people mourning Superman's death after his fight with Doomsday. His decision to sacrifice himself prompted both Batman (Ben Affleck) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) to look for individuals with superhuman abilities, after which the Justice League is expected to be formed.

The death of Superman also happened in the comics, specifically in "The Death and Return of Superman" published in the early '90s, which, according to The Hollywood Reporter, caused an uproar among fans. The story showed four characters donning the Superman costume after the real one died. The real Superman later returned wearing a black costume emblazoned with a metallic "S" in front.

While the comics featured Superman as a good guy, THR also said that in a story published from 2013 to 2014, Darkseid created a clone Superman who was wearing a black suit. Darkseid, according to the report, is said to be a major villain in the DC series of films.

"Justice League" is directed by Zack Snyder, the same director who helmed "Man of Steel" and "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," with screenplay by Chris Terrio. Apart from Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, the film is also set to feature The Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher), and Lois Lane (Amy Adams). Alfred Pennyworth (Jeremy Irons) and Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) will also be part of the film. It will hit theaters on Nov. 17, 2017.

Before that, fans of the DC Extended Universe can watch "Wonder Woman," to be shown starting June 2, 2017.
