  • ABC will remake the 1960s romantic drama “Dirty Dancing,” starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey.
  • Actress Jennifer Grey arrived at the 25th Anniversary of Lionsgate's "Dirty Dancing" screening at Grauman's Chinese Theatre on Aug. 21, 2012 in Hollywood, California.
  • Patrick Swayze and wife Lisa Niemi attended the after party for the Los Angeles premiere of "Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights," on Feb. 24, 2004 in Hollywood, California.

"Red Oaks" actress Jennifer Grey declines a role in the upcoming remake of "Dirty Dancing" from ABC. It seems that the remake will have to stand on its own.

Following a panel interview for Amazon comedy "Red Oaks" Season 2 (premiering on Nov. 11) at the summer press tour of the Television Critics Association, Grey confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that she was asked to join the movie. She admitted that she is delighted to it for she always wanted to be asked and to be included; however, she felt sacrosanct to do it because the role felt inappropriate for her. She also admitted that she was not offered the role as Baby but would not say what role.

Grey said that she is very interested to know and see in any iteration that the show will come up. She admitted that she is obsessed with "Hamilton" director Tommy Kail. She promised that she is going to watch it. She also said that she is excited to see the wonderful actors in it too. Her only advice to the cast and the production is to own it since each one does own interpretation.

Grey even made a joke that she had a great time of her life during "Dirty Dancing" show, even though a critic called it being sucky. She also recalls her time with co-star Patrick Swayze who was very protective of her. She also remembered that their first movie together was "Red Dawn" and then "Dirty Dancing," where Swayze showed his great dancing skills. She also admitted that they were two opposites, as the later was fearless to do anything and she was fearful of everything.

In other news, according to TV Line, "Screen Queens" actress Abigail Kathleen Breslin is set to star as Baby for the remake of ABC's "Dirty Dancing." She is replacing Grey's role in the 1960s romantic drama. Then, "Rock of Ages" dancer Colt Prattes has signed on to play Swayze's iconic role of Johnny Castle. In the story, the young woman falls in love with her dance instructor.

ABC's "Dirty Dancing" is going to be scheduled as a three-hour TV movie. "American Horror Story" Emmy-nominated writer Jessica Sharzer created its script. Adam Anders and Peer Astrom will be in-charge of the new music version. Andy Blankenbuehler will be responsible for choreography moves.
