Channing Tatum will star as a merman in the remake of the famous comedy "Splash" movie. The well-known original movie "Splash" was released back on March 9, 1984, starring Daryl Hannah as the mermaid Madison and Tom Hanks as Allen Bauer.

Disney will re-create the "Splash" 1984 classic movie. This new film of Disney reverses the role of the stars. "Workaholics" Jillian Bell will play on Hanks' part, while Tatum will be the one to play the role of Hannah as the merman in Disney's big twist of the story, as Mirror reported. Tatum and his co-star comedian Bell had worked together in the previous movie "22 Jump Street."

"Splash" is one of the classic movies that hit in the mid-1980s, raising the statuses of Hanks and Hannah. According to The Hollywood Reporter, in the original movie, Hanks was saved from drowning by a mermaid when he was still a child. Then 20 years later, the same mermaid came back looking for him that she once saved before. Her purpose is to let him choose whether to continue living his life or to live a beautiful life with her under the deep sea. Hanks, later on, falls in love with Hannah, but it happens that she is a mermaid.

Brian Grazer and Ron Howard from Imagine Entertainment will be producing "Splash" remake, Anna Culp will be executive producing it, and Marja-Lewis Ryan is writing the script. There is still no schedule yet on when the remake movie will start filming, but the script is already in the works now.

Currently, Tatum has an incoming "Magic Mike Live" show in Las Vegas. This live show will be held at The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and will start this coming March 2017.
