"Prison Break" actor Robert Knepper offered a tease on what to expect on the upcoming revival of the series, hinting that the new episodes will feel more matured. It is said that the continued plot will also feature Michael's new tattoo, an element which has significant importance to the overall story of "Prison Break" Season 5.
Speaking with reporters and fans at Comic Con in San Diego, Knepper revealed that "Prison Break" Season 5 is not going to disappoint their longtime fans. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he had an agreement with the writers that the continuation of their story must flow on a different and edgier tone.
To this end, Knepper assured fans during the panel that "Prison Break" Season 5's nine-episode revival will dive "into a much deeper place, more mature, more brazen and simple" arcs.
Co-star Wentworth Miller, who first thought about resurrecting "Prison Break," said that he had certain requests that he wanted to happen in the revival of their story. He said that he wanted to mix what fans loved about the series and "be true to the show's DNA."
"But also something radical and different and new," Miller continued.
"Prison Break" Season 5 will pick up after the fake death of Michael. Michael's wife, Sara, has moved on from him and has remarried. When Sara learns that his ex-husband might still be out there alive, she teams up with Lincoln to plot another prison escape.
Meanwhile, on Michael's orbit, the writers have incorporated his new set of tattoos as the central plot of the story, TV Line has learned. Miller has teased what to expect from his character's new body art, wherein he revealed that "they don't work the same way they did the first time around."
"Prison Break" Season 5 premieres in the spring on FOX.
