"The Flash" Season 3 is expected to throw some new twists and challenges in the scarlet speedster's life, especially since the second season ended with an episode that could potentially change the direction of the whole show. But what can fans expect when the comic book-inspired series returns this October?

In an interview with Screen Rant at the San Diego Comic-Con 2016, actor Grant Gustin said that the whole dynamic of the show changes because his character Barry Allen, aka The Flash, is now living with both parents - his mother alive and his father out of prison.

"So it's cool, we get to see Barry with his family as if they had always been normal," Gustin was quoted as saying. "Except Barry knows it shouldn't be this way so he has this absolute appreciation for the fact that they're here in front of him. So the scenes are great right now, they bring a smile to my face."

The teaser trailer for the premiere episode "Flashpoint," released by The CW network on July 23, shows how Barry's life has changed after going back to the past and preventing his mother's death.  But his seemingly normal, ideal life ultimately fires back.  He is the only one who knows the differences between the two timeline, but, according to Gustin, he starts to forget the real one slowly.

"This isn't your home, Barry," says the Reverse-Flash from behind bars. "It's a mirage.  It's already screwing with you and everyone you love, and pretty soon it's going to take me right down along with you."

In the montage of scenes, a character in a black hood is shown for a split second, but he could be an important character that would make Barry Allen's (Grant Gustin) life very difficult.

According to Creators, the character is called Doctor Alchemy aka Mister Element, a member of a criminal organization called the Rogues, and his doppelganger in Earth 2 is Alvin Desmond.  He transmutes elements by using some kind of philosopher's stone, and was first seen in the comics "Flash" Vol. 2 No. 71.

"The Flash" Season 3 will premiere on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at 8 p.m. on The CW.
