After setting a new record last year, HBO's "Game Of Thrones" is once again expected to rule this year's Emmys after garnering a total of 23 nominations following the success of their sixth season.

During last year's Emmys, "Game Of Thrones" set the bar after winning a total of 12 awards in a year out of 24 nominations, The Guardian reported.

Their 23 Emmy nods this year include: Outstanding Supporting Actor for Peter Dinklage and Kit Harington; Outstanding Supporting Actress for Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke and Maisie Williams; Outstanding Guest Actor for Max von Sydow; Outstanding Production Design For A Narrative Contemporary Or Fantasy Program (One Hour Or More); Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series; Outstanding Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series; and Outstanding Costumes For A Period/Fantasy Series, Limited Series Or Movie.

The epic fantasy also received the following nominations: Outstanding Directing; Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing; Outstanding Hairstyling for a Single-Camera; Outstanding Interactive Program; Outstanding Makeup for a Single-Camera Series (Non-Prosthetic); Outstanding Sound Editing for a Series; Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy Or Drama Series (One Hour); Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup for a Series, Limited Series, Movie Or Special; Outstanding Special Visual Effects; Outstanding Stunt Coordination for a Drama Series, Limited Series Or Movie; and Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series.

Harington and Williams expressed their elation for getting their first-ever Emmy nods. "It is a serious understatement to say that I am somewhat stunned. For my work on "Game Of Thrones" to be recognized in this way is an emotional moment for me. I could not be more humbled," said Harington, as quoted by EW.

Williams, who plays the character of Arya Stark, said she is thankful to be a part of "Game Of Thrones." The actress specifically mentioned author George R.R. Martin and showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss for bringing her character to life.

On the other hand, Headey said she is overwhelmed and thrilled for the 23 nominations of HBO's "Game Of Thrones."

The American fantasy drama series became one of the most sought-after series after it premiered in April 2011. "Game Of Thrones" completed season six on June 26 and will air again in 2017.

Meanwhile, the 68th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will take place on Sept.18 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California.
