Girls’ Generation’s Hyoyeon, Taeyeon Collaborate on new Song ‘Up & Down’

South Korean singer Hyoyeon of the K-pop group Girls’ Generation has worked with bandmate Taeyeon on a new song titled ‘Up & Down,' the girl's agency, S.M. Entertainment, announced on Wednesday.

‘Up & Down’ will be included on Taeyeon's new album entitled ‘Why’ which features trendy music genres worldwide like tropical house and contemporary pop. It is set to be released in the Korea on June 28.

According to Soompi, Taeyeon and Hyoyeon’s special collaboration is a representation of their friendship. 'Up & Down' features a powerful beat with rhythmic brass sounds as well as Hyoyeon’s excellent rapping skills.

Hyoyeon, 26, and Taeyeon, 27, are members of Girls’ Generation, also known as SNSD, along with its other members Sunny, Tiffany, Yuri, Sooyoung, Yoona, and Seohyun. The group made their debut in 2007.

In October 2015, Taeyeon made her debut as a solo artist with the record-breaking mini-album ‘I.’ The album earned the singer various awards including Best Female Artist at the Mnet Asian Music Awards and Gallup Korea’s third most popular artist of 2015. She also appeared on Forbes Korea’s Top 40 Power Celebrities of 2016.

After the release of ‘Why,’ Taeyeon will be having a solo concert entitled “Taeyeon, Butterfly Kiss” in Seoul on July 9 and 10.
