Celebrated Taiwan music icons Jay Chou and A-Mei released their first collaboration titled ‘Shouldn’t Be’ on Friday on YouTube.

‘Shouldn’t Be’ is a mellow pop song written by Chou and produced by JVR Music. It is one of the songs on Chou's new album ‘Bedtime Stories,’ which will be released on June 24.

According to Chou, he intentionally composed the song for himself and A-Mei to perform because although they have performed together, they have never done a song.

“In the past, we only sang together at concerts, and it's such a pity! This time, specially wrote this song for us, and I have factored in our voice range and how to synchronize the melody,” Chou revealed, according to Asian Pop News. He added that writing the duet was not an easy task.

Meanwhile, A-Mei has said felt very honored to be working with Chou. In fact, she claims to have been astonished the first time that she heard the song demo. The singer admitted that Chou is “very excellent in writing love songs.” It also appears that the two stars have a good working chemistry as they both enjoyed recording the song.

‘Shouldn’t Be’ was recorded in A-Mei’s studio, which is like a luxurious hotel, according to Chou.

Chou has a long list of hit songs, including ‘Fearless,’ ‘What’s Wrong,’ and ‘Someday.’ In 2003, he was named by Time magazine as the ‘New King of Asian Pop.’

A-Mei, on the other hand, is considered as the diva of Mandarin Pop Music as well as the ‘Pride of Taiwan.’
