One of the most popular series in Netflix is finally coming back but without a definite date. Although the return of "Making a Murderer" is already a given because of its massive popularity, a recent update has given fans hope that it could be returning soon.

Season Two Confirmed

Last year, Variety reported that Netflix is green-lit the second series of the massively popular series "Making a Murderer." The first season focused on defendants Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey as they go through the whirlwind court case with surprising revelations along the way. Creators Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos were granted unprecedented access and the world watched every episode in anticipation on what could happen next.

The report from Variety also provided a brief glimpse on the second season. Of course, the case continues which should provide the same unprecedented inside access to the legal process from the ground up. The only difference is the fact that the lawyers and the defendants are aware of the massive popularity of the series - thus, it will also examine the effects of their popularity.

Premiering in 2017

The first season of "Making a Murder" was filmed for ten years which means fans should be very patient for the follow-up. USA Today reports that the series could go back later this year although the premiere of the second season is still unknown.

A Netflix official also provided an insight on why the online streaming giant cannot provide the exact date of release for the second season. The company is giving the series creators a free hand in completing the project. They know that it's a very delicate case with real life impact on those involved.

The first season of "Making a Murder" was released by Netflix on December 18, 2015. It is known as the only series to stream the first episode on Netflix as well as YouTube.
