It was in December 2016 when the post-apocalyptic series "Z Nation" ended its third season. Just before the season ended on Dec. 16, the series was renewed for a fourth installment.
According to GNG, the main reason behind the fast decision of Syfy to give the series another season is because of the show's good performance in regards to ratings. It was also noted that the series is consistently occupying the top 10 seat in terms of the frequently viewed scripted series. The report also cited that "Z Nation" averages for about 1.2 million audience, and that almost half of its viewers are in the age between 18-49 years old.
As what was stated, "Z Nation" is a story of heroes where humans led by Lieutenant Warren (Kellita Smith) are finding ways to get Murphy (Keith Allan) who is the only known survivor of a zombie bite into a laboratory. The report also cited the changes of Murphy in the recent season and that the character is developing zombie-like characteristics, which enables him to communicate with the zombies and control the people he has bitten.
On the other note, it was just recently when Syfy released the trailer of "Z Nation" Season 4, Den of Geek has learned. According to the report, the fourth installment of the series will consist of 13 episodes which is lesser compared to the 15 episodes of the second and third season. However, Syfy is said to have promised the fans that "Z Nation" Season 4 will be about "Z End of Z World," which was the phrase highlighted in the recent trailer of the fourth installment.
Moreover, it is said that there is still no confirmed date yet in regards to the release of "Z Nation" Season 4. Although this is the case, Syfy has confirmed through the trailer that the upcoming season will premiere this year. Rumors suggest that a September or an October premiere date is likely.
