"Godzilla" has tapped "Stranger Things" breakout star Millie Bobby Brown for the lead role in its sequel, "King of Monsters." Likewise, her new castmates for "Stranger Things" Season 2 has also been announced.

Brown rose to fame for her performance as Eleven in Netflix's "Stranger Things." Now she is poised to have her first feature film role. This should be first of many projects that will keep Brown busy until the filming of "Stranger Things" Season 2.

The 12-year-old actress is touted to be one of the hottest names in Hollywood and is expected to secure more high-profile projects in the future. She might even play a role on the highly anticipated "Godzilla vs Kong" colossal crossover, Screen Rant reported.

"King of Monsters" will begin its production next year so it will not likely affect Brown's involvement in the Netflix series. Brown will join the likes of Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen who were also in the same position in the earlier film.

"King of Monsters" will be directed by "Krampus" co-directors Michael Dougherty and Zach Shields. The duo will also pen the script for the film. This should be a good move for the monster franchise after the departure of Gareth Edwards who has since made his mark on the "Star Wars" universe.

As for "Stranger Things" Season 2, the unexpected sci-fi hit has been announced to be slated for release in July. Brown will reprise her role as Eleven with newcomers Linnea Berthelsen and Paul Reiser.

The series will reportedly be set a year later after the events of Season 1. Season 2 will likely address the death of Barb in Upside Down, Esquire reported.

In an interview, "Stranger Things" actor David Harbour said, "It's a year later in the story, so there are several things that happened last year-like Will has come back-there are certain people in the town that know what happened, and then certain people that don't know what happened. So there's a lot of fall out with who knows what."

He went to reveal that Sean Astin will also join the crew as the love interest of Winona Ryder's Joyce. Watch a fan-made trailer of "Godzilla" 2 on the clip below:
