  • Jason Bateman attended the “The Family Fang” premiere in the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival at BMCC John Zuccotti Theater on April 16, 2016 in New York City.
  • Actress Rachel McAdams attended the Premiere of Disney and Marvel Studios' “Doctor Strange” on Oct. 20, 2016 in Hollywood, California.

"Identity Thief" actor Jason Bateman and "Southpaw" actress Rachel McAdams will star in New Line comedy "Game Night." "Vacation's" directing duo Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley are being helmed on it.

The roles of Bateman and McAdams in "Game Night" are still under wraps but are expected to play the lead roles. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the script tells of a group of couples who gather for their regularly planned game night when something goes murderously wrong.

The original script of "Game Night" was previously worked by Dana Fox and Mark Perez. Its latest draft was written by Goldstein and Daley, who also wrote the upcoming "Spider-Man: Homecoming" for Sony and Marvel, which opens this July, Variety reported.

"Game Night" has been in development at New Line since 2013. Bateman will produce under his banner Aggregate Films alongside producing partner James Garaventa and John Davis and John Fox for Davis Entertainment.

Although Bateman has only recently formally signed on to star, Aggregate Films has been producing "Game Night" since the pitch stage and brought on Goldstein and Daley, who worked with Bateman on New Line's "Horrible Bosses" comedies. They were also instrumental in getting McAdams on board.

For McAdams, "Game Night" marks her first true comedy since the 2005 smash hit "Wedding Crashers." She made her comic book movie debut in Marvel's "Doctor Strange" late last year following her Oscar-nominated turn in Open Road's drama "Spotlight," for which she received a best-supporting actress nomination.

McAdams' period drama "Disobedience," in which she stars as Esti opposite "The Mummy" actress Rachel Weisz, is currently in development. She is represented by Magnolia Entertainment, WME, and attorney Tom Hoberman.

Bateman currently is in production on his new Netflix drama series "Ozark," of which he serves as executive producer, star, and occasional director in several episodes, which is expected to launch sometime this year. He was most recently seen in the DreamWorks and Paramount comedy "Office Christmas Party." He is represented by CAA, Lighthouse Management, and lawyer Tom Hoberman.
