There have been rumblings that "Game of Thrones" star Peter Dinklage is being considered for a key role in Marvel's upcoming feat "Avengers: Infinity War." A new clue somewhat confirms popular theories about which character the actor might play in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Daily Mail recently spotted Dinklage having a hair cut in New York City. While this may sound like a very normal occurrence, it isn't. The 47-year-old actor was having his hair dyed a specific shade of red. This coincides with rumors that Dinklage will be playing Pip the Troll. Comparing Dinklage's new red hair and that of Pip's, the resemblance is uncanny.

Pop The Troll played a key role in the Infinity Gauntlet storyline in the comics and is linked to Thanos and Adam Warlock. In the "Infinity War" comics, Pip the Troll is put in a heroic position as he fights alongside Gamora and Doctor Strange.

According to Variety, Dinklage has wrapped up filming for "Game of Thrones" Season 7, which means he has time to film for the upcoming "Infinity War." Moreover, there are plans to shoot the next two "Avengers" movies back-to-back and Dinklage is reportedly appearing in both.

If Marvel does confirm Dinklage's casting, this wouldn't be his first performance as a comic book character. He previously portrayed Bolivar Trask in "X-Men: Days of Future Past."

Filming for "Avengers: Infinity War" is set to begin in Scotland this February. The shoot, which will take place in Edinburgh and Glasgow, is expected to last for six months.

The core "Avengers" cast will reprise their roles. More characters in the MCU are also joining the massive movie event, including Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Tom Holland as Spider-Man and Brie Larson as Captain Marvel.

"Avengers: Infinity War" has a release date of May 4, 2018.
