Another TV show is getting revived. NBC has officially greenlit the revival of "Will & Grace" on Wednesday.
According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, the network made the announcement at the Television Critics Association (TCA) winter press tour. The revival will run as a limited series and will be composed of 10 episodes. It will mark as a reunion project for original cast members Debra Messing, Megan Mullally, Sean Hayes and Eric McCormack - as well as creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick who will also serve as showrunners.
Director James Burrows is also attached to helm the limited series.
"We're thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest and most defining comedies in NBC history is coming back," said NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt.
"This groundbreaking series for everything from gay rights to social and political commentary - all disguised as a high-speed train of witty pop culture - is coming back where it belongs."
The official announcement comes after star Leslie Jordan first leaked that a revival is happening (via TV Line) in a radio interview last December. No premiere date has been set, but it is expected that it will be included on NBC's 2017-18 TV season. It's also yet to be determined if new characters will be introduced.
"Will & Grace" follows the eccentric friendship between a single woman (Messing) and her gay roommate (McCormack). The show has amassed multiple Emmy wins over its eight-year run on NBC. It debuted in 1998 and was cancelled in 2006.
Will & Grace joins other TV shows that has been revived for the 2017-18 TV season. This includes "Prison Break" on FOX, "Star Trek Discovery" on CBS All Access and "Twin Peaks" on Showtime. One of the most anticipated revivals happened last year when Netflix finally released "Gilmore Girls: A Year in The Life," starring Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel.
