"The Walking Dead" is truly phenomenal and a ratings juggernaut, making it the no. 1 drama series in the US, as well as a big global following second to none among television shows. Now on its season 7, many fans are now asking how would their favorite zombie post apocalyptic show would end.

Apparently, an actor of "The Walking Dead" has a brilliant idea as to how the show would end. According to News Corp Australia, Michael Rooker, the actor who played the role of Merle Dixon has shared his vision of "The Walking Dead" ending at a recent fan convention.

For Rooker, the perfect ending for the post apocalyptic phenomenon would be a simple shot in a railroad track with the series child star Carl Riggs who played the role of Carl Grimes.

"From behind camera, a single individual walks down the middle of the track ... into the setting sun. You realise that individual is Carl ... all grown-up, a man of his own. No one else is with him, just him," said Rooker in a report from Ace Showbiz.

"And as he does his voice-over, you realise that all the seasons that you've seen is him reliving his past. So everyone on the show is dead. He's the only survivor, and he's on his own and walks off into the sunset. And that's the end of the show."

Currently on its 7th season, "The Walking Dead" is still a very popular show. It opened its season 7 with 17.03 million viewers. It registers the highest demo rating among all scripted shows in the US, which is highly coveted by advertisers.

However, after "The Walking Dead" show runner decided to kill two characters, including fan favorite Glenn, the series have suffered huge ratings drop with the sixth episode of the season dropping to 10.40 million viewers, the lowest rating the show has had since season 3.
