A recent tweet by Hideo Kojima showcased his recently bought copy of "The Last Guardian" along with a congratulatory message to game creator Fumito Ueda. The congratulatory messages were shared by other developers as well. This includes Guerrilla Games Managing Director Helmen Hulst who mentions that Ueda's work is inspiring. Guerrilla Games is in partnership with Kojima Production for the development of the upcoming game "Death Stranding" which uses Guerrilla's Decima Engine.

It was 2007 when rumors of another game by Fumito Ueda started reaching fans of his previous games "Ico" and "Shadow of the Colossus". The rumors eventually turned out to be true when a trailer was released for "The Last Guardian". However, aside from the original trailers, barely any information made it out during the next few years and nothing happened during the expected 2011 release date. Many have thought that the game was cancelled but in E3 2015, the game was announced to be released for the PlayStation 4 the following year. According to Ueda, he intended the project to be shorter but it had a lot of technical problems that couldn't be solved by the PlayStation 3. One example was the artificial intelligence they had to use for the animal in the game. Eventually, he left Sony in 2011 to form his own company. The release of the game saw generally positive reviews from most major gaming websites.

Meanwhile, Hideo Kojima then announced that it has been almost a year since he first established his own company. He mentions that the countdown commences as he posts a black and white picture of him and the Kojima Productions logo held by a statue depicted by the logo. The release of the recent "Death Stranding" trailer during the last Game Awards have gone hand in hand with the message, though no official release date has been confirmed for the game.

"The Last Guardian" was released last December 6 for the PlayStation 4.
