After the remake of the "Crash Bandicoot" series was announced during E3 2016, developer Naughty Dog has revealed gameplay and levels taken from the first three "Crash Bandicoot" games. The remake, entitled "Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy", features the graphical advancements of the PS4 with a wider screen that shows more elements of the game. A lot of the original voice actors have also returned for this newest release. The game features updated character models along with cinematics, though the gameplay itself still features the same mechanics and level designs.

The game is made in tandem with Vicarious Visions who's been known to work on the "Skylanders" series. Since it's hard to put a direct remaster of PlayStation 1 games which have outdated technology, the game itself had to be built from scratch. This was the case for this updated trilogy, though the developers mention that the game is somewhere in between a remake and a remaster. Vicarious Visions had to reportedly play the first three games many times and also looked into why these games became very popular during their time. A lot of gameplay videos have been released through various websites and features Crash encountering familiar levels with the distinct feel of PS4 technology.

Building the game from scratch following the same designs of the original games has also given the chance for newer features to be included in the game. Included is the auto-save feature and a unified checkpoint feature. The game also allows manual saving. The pause menu will also be added giving players much more information to help them keep track of collectibles and other things. The game will also feature Time Trial modes best for friendly competition. The Time Trial mode had a bit of a segment in "Uncharted 4".

"Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy" will support 4K technology and is set to release in 2017 though no specific date has been given.
