Sunday's season finale of "Westworld" offered a glimpse into a new bunch of characters/hosts and hinted at a potential new world that may be explored on the show's upcoming sophomore season.

One of the highlights of the finale titled "The Bicameral Mind" saw Maeve and her team of rogue hosts entering a new part of the building where the hosts are dressed as Samurai warriors. Since viewers have not been able to get a full scope on how big is "Westworld is," it is likely that the writers have set up that scene to tease fans that a new world will be introduced in the second season.

Co-showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy addressed this latest theory in a postmortem interview, where they confirmed that they are "definitely teasing" other worlds to whet the fans' appetite for the new installment.

"How many other worlds and what is the nature of the other worlds is something we'll start to explore more in season 2," Joy told Entertainment Weekly.

"But it was definitely fun filming those samurai [scenes]."

Added Nolan: "Something we're constantly asked is, 'Is there a Roman World and Medieval World?' We couldn't say 'no,' because we wanted to go in a slightly different direction.

"This samurai-shogun world, for us, has a very specific relation to the Western."

In addition to "Westworld" Season 2 exploring new dimensions in the park, the showrunners also didn't shy away to discuss whether or not some of the characters that were killed off in the finale would still return. When asked about this burning question, Nolan assured fans that it is possible.

"As we've established, the hosts can't distinguish their memories and realities," he explained.

"There is always an opportunity to revisit some of these characters."

After being watched by over 2.2 million viewers on its 9PM premiere, Westworld's 90-minute first season finale was able to record as the scifi show's highest rating to date. It also now ranked as the most-watched first season on HBO's history.

"Westworld" stars Evan Rachel Wood, Jimmi Simpson, Ed Harris, Anthony Hopkins, James Marsden and Thandie Newton. Season 2 is slated to premiere sometime in 2018.
