English singer and songwriter Adele has shattered the world record of Korean music sensation Psy of reaching the 1 billion mark on YouTube in record time for his 2012 hit "Gangnam Style" with her latest hit "Hello."

The video was unveiled on Oct. 22. The streaming service announced on Jan. 21, Thursday, that "Hello" has reached 1 billionth views in 87 days, breaking the 158-day record held by the Korean star whose song has been currently seen more than 2.5 billion times and remains YouTube's most watched video ever since, surpassing Justin Bieber's "Baby" in November 2012.

However, it now seems that Adele's "Hello" is approaching fast.

"If anyone deserves it, it's Adele and that song," Billboard quoted Susanne Daniels, the head of original programming at YouTube, as saying. The single had received  a whopping 27.7 million views in the first day after it was uploaded.

Adele's third album, "25," was released in November 2015 through XL Recordings. "Hello" was written by the 27-year-old singer and Greg Kurstin and produced by the latter. She was said to be suffering from writer's block and even rescheduled several studio sessions tills she reportedly met Kurstin. The song famously took several months to complete.

"25" was titled as the most popular release of 2015. Adele has broken a string of records with the release of her third album, with the debut single "Hello" spending its first 10 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart.

Adele once again proved that she is YouTube's gold-dust when a segment of her appearance on James Corden's popular show "Late Late Show" amassed 45 million views in a single week.

Other reports stated that seeing the success and popularity of Adele's recently released music, American pop star Beyonce has delayed the release of her upcoming album, The Sun via Daily Mail reported.

The "Crazy In Love" singer has reportedly wrapped work on her sixth studio album at the end of last year, but she has decided to wait  until the hype around Adele' comeback dies down before unleashing her new work. She is likely to drop her new album during the Super Bowl next month.
