Naomi Campbell: 8 TV characters she played before ‘Empire’

Although known for being one of the world's top supermodels of all time, Naomi Campbell also pursued a career in acting. Born in London, England, she is of African-Jamaican and Chinese descent.

Campbell was a student of the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts when she was scouted by Synchro Model Agency in 1986 but she has been acting since 1978. Here are the nine TV characters she has played:

1. Snow White in "The Chiffy Kids"

Campbell made her debut as an actress in "The Chiffy Kids." She played Snow White in two episodes of the TV series in 1978.

2. April in "Kids"

In 1979, Campbell played April in two episodes of "Kids."

3. Julia in "The Cosby Show"

In 1988, Campbell appeared in two episodes of "The Cosby Show" as Julia. The TV series was created by its lead star Bill Cosby, who recently won the defamation case in Pennsylvania filed by one of his sexual assault accusers, Renata Hill, CNN reported.

4. Helen in "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air"

"The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" Season 1 episode 10 featured Campbell as Helen.

5. Simone Jeffers in "New York Undercover"

In 1995, Campbell played a recurring character in "New York Undercover" as one of the criminals named Simone Jeffers.

6. Lena Savage in "Fastlane"

"Fastlane" Season 1 episode 20 featured Campbell as Lena Savage in 2003.

7. Model in "Cirque du Soleil: Solstrom"

In 2003, Campbell played a model in "Cirque du Soleil: Solstrom" Season 1 episode 7.

8. Claudia Bankson in "American Horror Story" in 2015

After more than a decade, Campbell made her comeback in scripted TV series in 2015. She played Claudia Bankson in "American Horror Story" Season 5.

9. Camilla Marks in "Empire"

In 2015, Campbell joined the recurring cast of the first season of "Empire" as Camilla Marks, which is her most recent TV role.  

Along with "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" star Will Smith, Drake and Kanye West, Campbell will be honored by the Mandela Legacy at the 2016 Canadian Black History Month Gala at the Canadian Museum of History, in Gatineau, Quebec, on Feb. 20, The Bahamas Weekly reported. 

The last film Campbell starred in was "Karma, Confessions and Holi," a drama film released in India in 2009. Watch the trailer here:
