‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’: ‘Hannibal’ alum Tao Okamoto plays Mercy Graves

Tao Okamoto, 30, is set to star in her first Hollywood film since the 2013 film "The Wolverine," in which she played Mariko Yashida. The Japanese actress and model will play Mercy Graves in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," which will hit theaters on March 25.

Mercy Gravevs is the assistant of Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg), a young businessman obsessed with defeating Superman (Henry Cavill). Also named Kal-El and Clark Kent, Superman is a Daily Planet journalist and a Kryptonian survivor who protects the world.

In "The Wolverine," Okamoto co-starred with her fellow Asian actors Hiroyuki Sanada, 55, Will Yun Lee, 44, Brian Tee, 38, Haruhiko Yamanouchi, 69, and Rila Fukushima, 27, who played Shingen Yashida, Kenuichio Harada, Noburo Mori, Ichiro Yashida and Yukio, respectively. Among their co-stars were Famke Janssen, Svetlana Khodchenkova and Hugh Jackman, who recently reunited with his "X-Men: Days of Future Past" co-star James McAvoy in a hotel in Hungary, Daily Mail reported.

Before casted as Mercy Graves in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," Okamoto starred in several TV series. After "The Wolverine," she played Toko Sakagami the Japanese TV series "Chi no Wadachi."

In 2015, Okamoto played Chiyo in "Hannibal" Season 3. She also played Betty in "The Man in the High Castle" Season 1, which featured Daisuke Tsuji as the Crown Prince of Japan and Mayumi Yoshida as the Crown Princess of Japan among its historical figures.

With Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck plays Bruce Wayne/Batman in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." The film also stars Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Jeremy irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Holly Hunter as Finch and Gal Gadot as Diane Prince/Wonder Woman, among others.

Directed by Zack Snyder, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is written by Chris Terrio and David S. Goyer. Making a cameo in the upcoming film is Senator Patrick Leahy, 76, who was one of the lawmakers who recently expressed their concern about the economic impact of the stricter standard of the Food and Drug Administration on their states' raw milk cheese industry, Stat News has learned.
