Netflix is about to premiere another grandiose drama series titled "The Crown." Epic drama centers on the life of Queen Elizabeth II from her youth to her coronation, and leading up to the present day.

"The Crown" boasts a stellar list of cast members including Claire Foy as Elizabeth and "Doctor Who" alum Matt Smith as Philip Mountbatten. Smith takes on a very crucial role as the young man who has big dreams and hopes only to see them halted as he is expected to marry Elizabeth-his future wife and queen.

When asked to describe his character, Smith told Radio Times that Philip is very outspoken and "has never been afraid to say what he thinks." He also revealed that Philip was a bit of an outsider during his youth. "He has always been a forward thinker. He's always telling [the Queen] 'let's think outside the box,'" Smith shared.

The drama between Philip and Elizabeth as portrayed on the show is quite intense. For one, Philip, an accomplished Navy veteran, struggles with being cast aside and required to bow to his wife.

As per Vanity Fair, "The Crown" is Netflix's most expensive series to date. The 10-episode series cost $100 million to make. The massiveness and lavishness of the production is seen in the details as "The Crown" paints a beautiful picture of the privileged life of the royals, set in the scenic background of castles and vast grounds.

But despite its visuals, "The Crown" has a very emotional core as it follows Elizabeth and her struggles as she learns the ropes of tradition and duty. Not everything is handed in silver spoon, such as Elizabeth's wedding dress, for which she had to save ration coupons in order to purchase the materials. Her humble means was done in solidary with the other brides who were struggling during such difficult times after the war.

"The Crown" premieres on Netflix on Nov. 4. Watch the trailer below.
