"Star Wars" star Mads Mikkelsen has revealed in an interview that "Rogue One" will cross three time periods. On the other hand, Felicity Jones dished a few details about her character Jyn.

Mikkelsen plays Galen Erso, Jyn's father. He let it slip that he worked with three actresses that played Jyn, GQ reported.

"I worked with Jyn at three stages, and three different ages, so there was a little kid that was four, one that was eight, and then there was Felicity," he said. This means that "Rogue One" will spend a good amount of time exploring the history between the two characters.

In the interview, Jones confirmed that Jyn will join a "motley crew" of sorts and become its leader. She said that she and her allies have had difficult experiences that will enable them to bond with each other.

"Someone who is very much finding her place in the galaxy.I always like to say because it just sounds really cool. [Laughs] Just to say 'in the galaxy.' And she joins - they're a bit of a motley crew. They've all had difficult experiences. Then they come together, and they find something in a shared mission... that was pretty exciting to shoot," she told Screen Rant.

"Rogue One" is touted to be more of a war movie than any other releases from the "Star Wars" franchise. This might mean that a few characters will not survive at the end.

Elsewhere Mikkelsen and Jones are busy promoting their upcoming films. Mikkelsen will be in "Doctor Strange" while Jones stars in "Angels and Demons" follow-up, "Inferno." Both are joined by Forest Whitaker, Riz Ahmed, Ben Mendelsohn and Diego Luna in "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" which opens on Dec. 16.
