"Agent Carter" lead star Hayley Atwell gets another lease of life of Agent Peggy Carter in "Marvel's Avengers: Secret Wars."
The actress is set to reprise her role after the cancellation of "Agent Carter" in the anime version of the character. The announcement was made at the recent New York Comic Convention. Atwell is reportedly signed on to voice the character in the Disney XD animated series, Comic Book Resources reported.
Atwell has successfully signed on another ABC series after the Season 2 of "Agent Carter." However, the actress expressed on multiple occasions that she would return to the role if given another chance, The Wrap reported.
"All I'm saying is that it's still a much loved show [Agent Carter] for the people involved with the making of it, and we know that the fans, it has a special place in their hearts. That's something I would be very happy to go back to if the opportunity came," she said.
"Marvel's Avengers: Secret Wars" will be shown on Disney XD. The animated series is also set to introduce other prominent Marvel heroes including Ant-Man and Black Panther.
For the uninitiated, the MCU version of Peggy Carter (Agent Carter) was introduced in "Captain America: The First Avenger." The character has since appeared in "Ant-Man," "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and "Captain America: Winter Soldier." The character has since died in the present timeline of the MCU in "Captain America: Civil War."
Atwell currently stars as in legal television drama series "Conviction" as Hayes Morrison. The series premiered last October 3, 2016.
