Chae-ryung, now a court lady gave Hae-Soo a birthday present for her injured knee with Hae-Soo responding that having her around would be the best gift.

Baek-ah gives Hae-Soo scented oil from Bulgaria much to So's annoyance since he brought nothing for the birthday girl. At night, So took Hae-Soo to a spot where they could get a good spectacle of the stars. He was about to give her a kiss but stopped him by putting her hand on his lips.

King Hyejong's health deteriorates and complain about it having no good sleep at all. Wook offered him the comfort of life if the king would abdicate the throne to him. The king even sent his eldest daughter to Khitan to get married just to get somebody to protect him and the palace. So, seeing the young girl cries can't help but remember his past and agreed to marry the poor little girl to save her.

Hae-Soo's day off arrive and is very excited to see So again. However, the thing that she expects that So will tell her never came out. They spend the day boating together in the lake without So telling her what really happened.

The king announced his daughter's marriage to So who is not just his half-brother but will be his son-in-law as well. And since his daughter is still young, So can make him his second wife. He also informed Wook he plans to give the throne to So, to Wook's dismay.

Hae-Soo found out So's marriage and became from Eun and became so broken-hearted. Baek-ah handed her a letter from So which is his excuse. It is a poem from Chinese poet, Wang Wei.

Jung never expected to find his brother alive with a different look when he visited his mother. Everybody thought that Yo died from falling off the cliff and that enraged him because his mother did not tell him the truth. Yo is in hiding because he was considered a traitor with a huge interest to the throne.

Jung slipped into the palace that night despite the king's order of closing it off to all and any outsiders. He was chased by So and ended up hiding in Hae-Soo's room who forbid So and the guards to search. Although not convinced that no one hide's in her room, So left after seeing her scratch her neck with a pin saying that she'd rather die than suffer the grace of letting a man get inside the quarter of an unmarried woman.

The next day, Yo talked to Hae-Soo of what happened last night. They explained to each other the series of events in the palace and were able to understand each other. They promised not to lie to each other and that is also the time that Yo told Hae-Soo that he loves her. With that, she gave her a brief kiss with Yo kissing her too a bit longer.

Won brought Yo to the palace to speak with Wook who was surprised to find him alive. They both discussed something which was never revealed. The scene shifted to Yo attacking the palace along with the rebels. There, he came face to face with the king and pushed him into the pool until he got drowned and died.

The episode ended with So facing Yo who accused Hae-Soo of poisoning the king by putting mercury in his bath. So was now left with two choices - the dead king or Hae-Soo who is now in great danger as Won held a blade in front of her neck.
