What better way to learn history than to play through videogames? In Firaxis' "Civilization 6," it was revealed that a new leader has been surfaced: Emperor Trajan of Rome.

As stated by DualShockers, the previous games had Julius Caesar as the Roman leader consistently, just as Greece had Alexander the Great. Now like Pericles taking the seat of power in Greece in "Sid Meier's Civilization 6," Emperor Trajan now sits to oversee the overall progress and protection of Rome.

Roman cities will start off with a trading post that can automatically create trade routes with other cities near the capital without any extra cost. This is an innate faction ability of this Civilization called "All Roads lead to Rome." Rome also provides more amenities and housing with the Baths structure than the Aqueducts.

According to PC Gamer, another of Emperor Trajan's special ability is having a special monument for free called Trajan's Column. In the game, monuments have a bearing on cities, granting an additional two points to Culture, which aids in increasing the city growth and population and further adding more social policies. The monuments can give two points to Happiness in civilizations as well with the Socialist Realism order tenet.

For the military side, Rome also has a unique unit called the Legion, also based on the actual military unit in history. The Roman unit in the game is a stronger replacement for the Soldier unit, though it is more expensive. What also makes the unit worth the expense is its ability to construct forts and roads.

According to history, Emperor Trajan was the 13th emperor of Rome. He was born Marcus Ulpius Traianus and formally known as Imperator Caesar Nerva Traianus Divi Nervae filius Augustus. He was considered to be the best in his field of being general and ruler of Rome. It was also his conquest of Dacia (parts of modern-day Hungary, Romania, and Serbia) that brought the Roman Empire to great prosperity, since the area was rich with gold.

"Civilization 6" is slated for release on Oct. 1.
