"Pokemon Go" developer Niantic has been taking some more developers, having more projects in mind for the future. CEO John Hanke mentioned that the future projects would most likely include the Niantic platform of gameplay and app features.

Before the hit success of "Pokemon Go," Niantic had "Ingress." The game is another location-based, augmented reality, massively, multiplayer online game (MMOG) which was originally part of Google. The game requires players to capture landmarks and other notable locations to create portals to create virtual triangular "control fields."

"Pokemon Go" utilizes the data collected by "Ingress" and it's possible that Niantic might do the same with future projects, according to Gamespot. The other projects may not even pertain to games, but probably apps that might be all about exercising, discovering, and socializing, as stated by Hanke.

This Niantic platform will be used for long-time goals in the company. They have even commenced early development for some other projects based on that platform. Hanke mentions that it will be soon before Niantic might come up with another hit title.

Hanke also mentions that with the trend of location-based and augmented reality games, there would be more grounds for competition. He mentions that it is a "fresh area" for game companies to explore and work around this new type of gameplay, with a lot room for innovation.

In other related news from Games Radar, "Pokemon Go" has just confirmed its Buddy System to be on the way with the upcoming updates. The new system will allow players to choose any Pokemon to accompany their avatar in their journeys. Niantic mentions that these updates will offer more "game rewards and experiences."

The Buddy System will be awarding "helpful bonuses" such as Candies to players just for walking with their Pokemon companions. It's no doubt that it will help players level up their Pokemon more conveniently.
