Imagine Stephen Curry donning the Los Angeles Lakers jersey next year. This is a potential scenario as the 2-time MVP hits free agency at the end of 2016-17 NBA season.

Hoops Rumors reported that one remote scenario that could dictate Curry's future is following former coach Luke Walton in the Los Angeles Lakers. Although Lakers can toy with the idea of luring the best shooter in the league with better pay, the chances are still just a "dream." The Golden State Warriors are sure to counter-offer anything that other clubs will bring in the table for Curry.

Both Curry and coach Walton kept silent to those who tried to get concrete depth about this rumor. Even the Lakers management neither confirmed nor denied they are courting the superstar.

Another factor that could play for Curry's future squad is the outcome of the upcoming season. Although NBA analyst Arthur Hill doesn't see the Warriors losing the momentum en route to the championships, according to Sportsrageous.

To recall, Curry is included in the list of "criminally underpaid" players. This is mainly because of $12 million per annum contract signed four years ago when Curry is not yet the Curry today. Even so, the Warriors signed fellow superstar Kevin Durant in a mega million-dollar deal. This is the final nail in the coffin for the team to lose bargaining chip for Curry's renegotiation at lesser than $100 million.

The fact is that conservative valuation of Curry's contract for 5 years starting 2017 already skyrocketed at $188 million. He chose not to taunt Warriors with his achievements and change terms last year though. This opens a very slim chance of Curry landing with Lakers or any other club should Warriors fail to take care of him at the conclusion of 2016-17.
