Stephen Curry finally admitted that he was not in 100 percent of his capacity in the NBA Finals. His confession confirmed speculations and what coach Steve Kerr said many times earlier about what really happened during the Game 7 of the Finals.
In an exclusive interview with ESPN on Saturday in Guangzhou, China, he said what really happened during the NBA Finals 2016. He admitted that he is not fully fit during the Game 7 when he revisited the game.
"I wasn't 100 percent, but who cares? I was playing. I was out there trying to help my team win and that's all that really matters. I've taken advantage of the summer to get right and I still have a little bit of work to go," Curry said.
Golden State Warriors started an excellent season in 2015-2016, as they broke a long-reigning regular season's record held by Chicago Bulls with 73-9. However in the Finals, Cleveland Cavaliers snatched the title from their grasp, after Warriors rallied 3-1 in the first four games. Cavaliers won the last three games and won the NBA title for the very first time.
According to Fox Sports, coach Kerr had already said about the his condition in many occassions. But this was the first time Curry confirmed it openly. Curry revealed that after the NBA Finals he was upset but he tried to focus on the next season.
"I was a little mad at myself and getting back into the grind of working out for next season."
The NBA two-times MVP was in Guangzhou for Asia Tour sponsored by Under Armour. During visit in Guangzhou, he hosted a basketball clinic and took part in an Under Armour's consumer event, which attended by more than 1,500 fans wearing Golden State Wariors jersey and Under Armour shoes.
After finishing his schedule in Guangzhou on Sunday, Curry will continue Asia Tour with Under Armour in Hong Kong and Taipei on Sept. 5 and 6 respectively.
