When The Blacklist returns for Season 4, Liz Keen (Megan Boone) is not the only one in danger. Viewers will also find Tom (Ryan Eggold) in a life-threatening situation. As for Reddington (James Spader), it has been revealed that he will make it his mission to find Liv at any cost.
In a report from Entertainment Weekly, "The Blacklist" actor Ryan Eggold has previewed that his character, Tom will be in a locked trunk in the Season 4 premiere. However, his life will not be under threat for long. Eggold further shares that Tom will eventually gain his freedom back, and begin his search to find his wife.
"At the end of season 3, Liz and I got the briefest of glimpses of what it would be like to live that idyllic dream as a family on a beach in Cuba, and then it's taken away," Eggold said.
"So having tasted it, the stakes are higher. I don't think there's anything that Tom wouldn't do to get them both back."
When "The Blacklist" Season 3 wrapped-up last May, it has been revealed that Liz is actually alive. According to executive producer Jon Bokenamp, the decision to fake Liz's death was due to Boone's real life pregnancy. Storyline-wise, they thought that Liz would only do such a thing to protect her unborn child from Red.
"When we [found out] Megan was pregnant, it felt like something we couldn't ignore in a show that's all about the nature of identity," Bokenkamp said.
"Elizabeth Keen was adopted, doesn't know where she comes from, and in a show that is so steep in that conversation, how do we ignore the fact that our lead actress is pregnant?"
Reddington, for his part, will also make his mission to find Liz. According to the official description of NBC shared by The Futon Critic, here's a synopsis of what will happen in the Season 4 premiere of The Blacklist: "After Liz is abducted by a man claiming to be her father, Red sets out to find her at any cost. Meanwhile, the Task Force grapples with the shocking news that Liz is still alive."
