"Wentworth" Season 5 will go on without Bea Smith (Danielle Cormack), who was stabbed to death by Joan Ferguson ((Pamela Rabe) with the use of a screwdriver on Season 4.
It is a fact that upcoming seasons of "Wentworth" will never be the same without the presence of Bea Smith. Since the series did not show any scenes verifying her demise, such as a wake or burial, fans are made to believe that she will survive and show up.
According to TV Week, the gloomy news was confirmed by "Wentworth" executive producer, Jo Porter. She said, "While the shoes of Bea Smith will be hard to fill, with the start of Season 5 the gates of Wentworth Correctional Facility will again open to a raft of potential new stories and characters."
Reports said that Cormack has been in Cambodia for quite some time now doing charity work and is not available to provide some comments about her possible return to the show or what has become of her character. She had been recently posted on social media that she is not in the location when the show starts filming in Melbourne for Season 5. From that, Bea's fate in the show can be easily predicted. She will no longer join the cast in Season 5.
"Wentworth" Season 4 finale is indeed the final curtain for Cormack. Fans have been optimistic that Bea will make it and return considering she is portraying a major role and her loss would be unwished for, iTechPost reported.
Showrunners purposely executed Bea Smith to add tragicomic impact on the show rather than wait for Cormack to get exhausted and request to leave the show. That may inhibit how her exit will be well-handled.
No premiere date has been revealed for "Wentworth" Season 5 but Foxtel confirmed that the filming already started today and that the new season will air some time in 2017.
