"Scrubs" actor Zach Braff will return in small screens starring in a new comedy series called "Start Up," under ABC.

The series will be one of the latest string of podcast-to-tv adaptations following "Serial" and "Lore." This marks Braff's return to tv after appearing in "When I was Here and "In Dubious Battle." Braff is likewise slated to direct the single-camera comedy series, Deadline reported.

In a podcast on which the show is also named, the actor told Alex Blumberg the premise of the show.

"[Start Up is] a show about all the things that happen - the good, the bad and the ugly - when a guy (Braff) in his mid-30s with a wife and two kids makes the crazy decision to quit his good job and dive into the brave new world of starting a business," he said.

Braff is not the only "Scrubs" alum who is set to join the project. "Scrubs" executive producer Matt Tarses is set to co-executive produce the series with him alongside John Davis, John Fox, Chris Giliberti, Alex Blumberg and Matt Lieber. Braff has also been commissioned to direct the upcoming pilot.

"Start Up" is guaranteed to be picked up given that ABC already bought it as a put pilot. However, the series will likely change its name because of a new drama series on Crackle with the same title, Screen Rant reported.

Braff played Dr. John Dorian in "Scrubs" for nine seasons. The series started out on NBC but aired its final two seasons on ABC. "Start Up" will be Braff's first full-time TV role since Scrubs ended in 2010.
