"Once Upon A Time" has cast "Prison Break" actor Faran Tahir to play Captain Nemo, a character from "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" in Season 6.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Tahir will play "the hardened leader of the Nautilus submarine, who's a zealous believer in a cause that takes him from 20,000 leagues under the sea to the destiny that he won't let anyone prevent him from achieving." Tahir's casting comes after the news that "Once Upon A Time" Season 6 will delve on Captain Hook's backstory. Co-showrunners Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis commented on Tahir's arrival, saying that they are excited to see Captain Nemo's mythology tying up with Colin O'Donohue's character.
"We're thrilled to give a Once Upon a Time spin to the classic character of Captain Nemo from one of our favorite Disney films, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea," Horowitz and Kitsis told the publication.
"We're excited to see his mythology merge with Storybrooke's own captain - Hook. If for no other reason than to see the Jolly Roger go up against a submarine."
In addition to Captain Nemo, a slew of new characters will also be introduced this fall on "Once Upon A Time." They include Alladin (Deniz Akdeniz), Jafar (Oded Fehr), Princess Jasmine (Karin David), Counte of Monte Cristo (Craig Horner) and Morpheus (Giles Matthey). As for the heroes and their new storylines, ABC revealed that Season 6 will tackle Emma's mysterious life-altering secret, Regina's struggle to eliminate her dark side, and Belle's challenging journey of facing motherhood.
"Once Upon A Time" also stars Jennifer Morrison, Lana Parilla, Emilie de Ravin and Jared Gilmore. Season 6 premieres on Sunday, Sept. 25 at 8PM on ABC.
