When the upcoming superhero film "Doctor Strange" needed to do some last minute scenes, Marvel reportedly called on a scribe who had no prior experience writing for superheroes.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dan Harmon is latest addition to Marvel's writing club. He wrote material for additional scenes needed for the movie, and filming was wrapped mid this month, according to the tweet of actor Benedict Wong, who portrays Wong, a master of Mystic Arts.

Harmon created and produced NBC's comedy "Community" and also created the animated series "Rick and Morty" on Adult Swim. He also worked on "Kung Fu Panda," which was uncredited, and on "Monster House."

"Doctor Strange stars Benedict Cumberbatch ("Sherlock," "The Fifth Estate," "The Imitation Game") as Stephen Strange, a neurosurgeon who, after an accident, can no longer use his hands. He then learns the mystic arts from the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton).

A trailer was shown at the San Diego Comic Con, and Cumberbatch was reportedly impressed when he saw it.

"Some bits made me think, 'Wow. God. That's what I'm part of,'" he told Empire. "You have conceptual art that they show you, but you only really realise what you're part of at the end of the process."

He clarified that he was not saying that he did not enjoy the effects while they were shooting. A lot of those involved "real elements, whether it was sets that make a room miniscule, or the costume designs."

"Doctor Strange" also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor as Karl Mordo, Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer, Michael Stuhlbarg as Nicodemus West, Mads Mikkelsen as Kaecilius, Benjamin Bratt, and Scott Adkins. It will be shown in theaters starting Nov. 4.
