"Clueless" star Alicia Silverstone joins Nicole Kidman and Colin Farrell in the cast of "The Killing of a Sacred Deer." The movie is the follow-up of director Yorgos Lanthimos to "The Lobster." A24 is the U.S. distributor and is well-known for distributing some of the best and most interesting indie films today.

According to Deadline, Silverstone will play the mother of a teenage boy (Barry Keoghan). Farrell will play Steven, the surgeon. Kidman will play Farrell's wife. The story of "The Killing of a Sacred Deer" revolves about the charismatic surgeon forced to make an unthinkable sacrifice after his life starts to fall apart when the behavior of the boy he has taken under his wing turns sinister. It seems to be less about clever conceit and more about the roots of violence and pain in emotional isolation.

The shooting of the psychological drama "The Killing of a Sacred Deer" has already started in Cincinnati, Ohio, as Variety reported. This movie is a reteam for Lanthimos and Farrell. It is co-written by Lanthimos and his regular collaborator Efthymis Filippou. It is financed by New Sparta Films and Film4 and the Irish Film Board, who were also the financiers of "The Lobster." It was developed by Element Pictures and Film4. The worldwide sales agent of this movie is HanWay Films.

Other cast members of "The Killing of a Sacred Deer" are Raffey Cassidy from "Tomorrowland", Sunny Suljic from "The Unspoken", and Bill Camp from "12 Years a Slave". Besides Lanthimos, the producers of this film are Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe of Element Pictures, who were also the producers of "The Lobster" and Oscar winner "Room."

"The Lobster" won the Cannes Jury Prize in 2015 and, later on, earned the gross $9M in the U.S. Lanthimos' previous credit "Dogtooth" won Cannes' Prix Un Certain Regard in 2009 before receiving an Oscar nomination for best foreign language film.
