‘Avengers: Infinity War’ director teases new chapter for the MCU after 'Avengers' and 'Guardians' crossover

Director teases a new leaf for the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the succeeding "Avengers" films, featuring the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy. The Russo brothers directed the last two blockbuster "Captain America" instalments, and they are now tasked to be at the helm of "Avengers: Infinity War" and another untitled "Avengers" movie.

"Avengers: Infinity War" will be a two-part event that should be the coming together of everything that has happened in the MCU since its conception. While they cannot reveal much about the storyline of the upcoming films, Anthony did say that the end in some aspects and will be the star for certain things, IGN reported.

"I can't get into too much detail about who we're introducing, but these two movies are intended to be the culmination of everything that has happened in the MCU since the very first Iron Man movie. In being a culmination, these movies are in some ways going to be an end to certain things, and in some ways, they're going to be the beginning of certain things," he said.

"Avengers: Infinity War" will mark the first meeting of the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy, Screen Rant reported. After handling a huge ensemble in "Captain America: Civil War," the challenge to both directors is on how they will keep the story tight with so many characters to work with. To this, Anthony said that the best approach is to just go with the best story to tell involving these characters.

 "Avengers: Infinity War" will not be shown until May 4, 2018 but the studio is reportedly already prepping for a 9-month long shoot that features the biggest ensemble of superheroes yet under Marvel Cinematic universe.
